Smart advertising and smart campaigns

I am currently a marketing student, but have always liked to witness “cleverly-put-together adverts ” let me share a few that have captured me recently.

1. “It’s good to be bad“The Jaguar campaign that used actors that played villains in British movies. What caught my attention was how Spark 44 (The agency behind this concept)  used villains instead if the cliche “Hot girl” to advertise their latest range of cars

Jaguar ” It’s good to be bad “

2. While scrolling down 9 gag, I found this rather impressive and heart felt work by a photographer who wanted to raise awareness about adopting abandoned dogs. I was titled “Photographer creates surreal montages with abandoned dogs to encourage adoption“.

3. Why you should brush. This campaign aims to encourage people to brush their teeth but does it in an usual way. have a look for yourself

There are so many adverts on various media platform that our attention is constantly being fought for by advertisers that’s why it is certainly a requirement for advertisers to be more artistic yet more clever to win our attention as people. These are just some of the adverts and campaigns that grabbed my attention.

Hope you enjoyed

Walking in heels

Those close to me would know that I really like to see women in heels and walking properly in them. I don’t know why I just do. Early this week on my way to campus, I came across a sight of a pretty women dressed in summer dress with an array of flowers printed on it. She was looking quite dashing with her hair well tied up and a neutral coloured hand bag to match her beige wedged heels. Nice!

What happened a split second later deterred my stance of admiration to a mode of concern, to included a silent cringe and a disappointed expression on my face that I tried very hard to hide but  failed to do so.

The young lady stumbled forward like a new born gazelle. It was more apparent and evident that she couldn’t walk in those. Maybe she could try and argue that ‘they were of high length’ the counter argument I would give is that ‘Why didn’t you learn how to walk in them before you put them on ? ‘

Ladies if you can’t walk in heels here is a tutorial read it and be blessed. Not for my pleasure but your benefit.

Remember that if you walk incorrectly in heels or wearing the wrong size can can damage your ankles and toes. I hope the lady I sore this past week is reading this post and is inspired to take the right steps.

– Sibusiso –

A new year is always a challenge

  1.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
  3.  And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

This passage is taken from Genesis 1:1 – 3 (NIV). In my adult life this verse has always been replayed at the beginning of each calender year. This year has brought a few familiar challenges to my academic and a personal life. Before I delve into it let me first digress to who I am.

My name is Nhlakanipho Tlhalefo Sibusiso Dhlamini. Many people (especially those I’ve met post high school) know me as Sibusiso. I am the eldest of 4 children, I am a student and have recently switched my course & institution where I study.

I generally am a nice guy, I love to laugh, God is King of the earth Jesus is alive and the Holy spirit is moving. I enjoy house music and like to watch films. My interests are, entrepreneurship, film and television, design, music, fashion, photography, food and people.

Right ! Now, the switch to study Marketing management was quite strenuous and filled with admin, especially when doing all of that in the beginning of the year. I must say that without family support one can get discombobulated by dealing with such tedious administrative tasks without patience and understanding from people.

The end of the month came and a new beginning with it. After much efforts were made to register at my current institution. The light has come and for me the world is a bit brighter due to prayer, family, support, self belief, having a vision and taking responsibility of my past actions.
